Dreaded News

Last Friday, HC came home and told us that Toto refused to eat his food (fresh chicken and kibbles). However, he drinks alot of water - almost 1.5 litres every few hours. HC has a very bad feeling about it and hope he is not suffering from organ failure i.e. kidneys.

On Sunday, she was contemplating to visit Toto... but something tells her not to. This morning, before she could even parked her car in the office lot, a fellow colleague rushed to inform HC that Toto has been died since Saturday night.

HC saw Toto's dead body. He was very bloated (looks like a bear), and his stiff legs were up in the air. There was a lot of flies on his body as well. Of course HC didn't want to take a picture to post here as it may sadden alot of readers.

HC is sad that Toto had died at such a young age. He should be about 1 year old now cos he looked to be about 3-4 months when he first wandered into her office compound in September 2006. Even though Toto refused human touch despite HC feeding him for 10 months, HC knew Toto likes her as he always wags his tail upon seeing HC. Sometimes, he will try to follow HC for a distance. Just last month, HC bought some Bach flower essence, and there was some improvements in Toto. He allows HC to stand slightly nearer and sleeps peacefully in the open (he used to hide somewhere to sleep). HC was hoping that one day Toto will be open to her touch so that she can take better care of him (ie. showers, vet visit).

But I guess "someone up there" needs Toto more.

I am sad that Toto has never had any human touch in his entire short life, and would never know how wonderful a canine-human relationship can be. But at least, he has never gone hungry for the past 10 months - a life better than alot of strays in the streets.

Bigger and stronger in December 2006.

Good-bye Toto! I hope you are happy and enjoying yourself with 'someone up there'.

Forget Me Not

Remember my HC's office dog - ToTo?

Well, he is actually 'illegal', as HC has not sought proper permission to keep ToTo in the office compound. HC cannot find a good excuse for the office to keep him officially, because ToTo is a scaredy dog. After feeding him for 9 months, he still runs away when HC comes near. I think HC has now called him "the useless guard dog", because ToTo will attempt to guard the office by barking at strangers and then runs away!

To help him overcome his fear, HC has bought 2 Bach remedies - Mimulus and Larch. She has been feeding him for the last 1 week. However, HC could only feed him twice a day with food which is different from the recommended instructions. So hopefully, it'll work for him.

The useless guard dog...

Remember my new door tag?

I think ToTo should get a few of these to remind his 'two' slaves: - HC will feed in the morning and another colleague during lunchtime. However, sometimes due to wet weather or workload, they'll forget and will only remember when HC and her colleague meet after the usual mealtime. (They would say, "OHH I forgot to feed ToTo!" and rushed down to feed him.)

And HC complains that ToTo is very smelly. He has never showered in his entire life! eeek!

Toto - updates

Remember Toto, the stray dog in HC's office?

This was how small he was four months back.

Now he is almost 2.5 times bigger!

HC and colleague have been feeding him. They have come to a set time table- HC will feed at 8.30a.m. with mainly dry food, and occasional wet canned food. Her colleague will feed him during lunch time with duck/chicken bones and pork ribs that either she bought cheap from food stall or leftover dinners. Although HC is not keen on feeding Toto cooked bones and had tried to dissuade unsucessfully to her colleague about the cons of feeding cooked bones. Likewise, her colleague tried to tell HC unsucessfully that feeding raw mutton bones will make the dog "aggressive" (hahahaha). Well, I guess not everyone share the same thoughts about dogs' feeding.

On long weekends, HC will drive back to her workplace and feed Toto. Sometimes, she even provide stew meat with eggs over plain rice. We are soooooo jealous...

Of course, HC brought us along during the weekend visits. But Toto freaked out when Jack barked at him at HIS (TOTO'S) territory.

And HC said that after 4 months of feeding and talking nicely to Toto, he is still very shy and will not stand more than 1 metre away from her. But HC had seen him wagging his tail when she walks by and is pretty touched at that, considering that he growls (and then runs away) when someone else walks near.

Toto

This is Toto

He is not fantastic looking and also as timid as a rat. He had his eye on the humans even when he is eating, and if they even make a movement such as taking out their camera, he immediately ran away. HC had to stand 3m away to take this lousy shot.

We met.. or rather smell him last Sunday. HC drove us to her workplace (damn far, I tell you) and fed him some food. She also brought us out to meet him. Unfortunately he went into hiding and refuse to meet us. Stupid dog!

His name is .......

Finally... the stray dog has a name.
Not Hercules, not tyson, not hero as suggested in the earlier post.

Since he is a true blue Singaporean, HC decided his name should be ---------
-
-
-
-

TOTO!!!!!!

(arrghhh.. what a obiang name!)

HC said that with this new name, she hopes TOTO will bless her to win the $1 million toto draw. If she wins that money, she promised to take care of him for life. Yes... for his entire lifetime.

So.... Toto, if you want to have someone to love you and take care of you for life, start praying, okay??

Dog names?

HC is thinking of a name for the stray dog.

She heard that a dog usually lives up to his name, and wants to find a name to let the timid dog grow up to be brave, loyal, smart and strong! Preferably Strong cos her next door office neighbour has 2 rottweilers.

Any suggestions?
Hercules?
Strong?
Hero?
Tyson?

people..... please suggest!!

p.s. luckily she didn't name me Rascal. (*jack 'rascal'*)

No longer a stray dog

HC has a new dog... well, sorta... this puppy stray came over to where HC works and decided to make himself at home. According to HC, he looks to be about 7-8 months and will probably grow bigger cos his paws and head is big and not in proportion to his small body. The staff in the office took pity on him cos he is really skinny with ribs showing.

And guess what? A few of the office ladies have started to feed him, so much so that he has leftover rice on his plate every day. And just the other day, HC gave him OUR portion of fresh chicken breast and tulang. What a lucky dog!

He is still quite nervous being with humans and will hide whenever they came over to feed him. Which is actually a good thing, because we wouldn't want him to wag his tail at the AVA officers. The men in uniform are bad news...

And this dog is actually quite timid. While he was having his meals, HC will stand further away to look else he will not come out to eat. Some strangers walk past, and he started barking very ferociously. But guess what, he actually went into hiding while barking!! What a timid dog. I probably will have to send my 'bark master' - Mr. Jack to teach him how to look and sound fierce.

Just yesterday, HC drove us to a petshop, and we were ecstatic at the prospect of treats and toys. Alas, HC walked out with a packet of dog food and two cans of wet food. And I am sure it they were not meant for us as HC don't feed us with commercial pet food.

Maybe I will go visit him one of these days. In the meantime, HC will try to snap a picture of him when he is not hiding.
